Any time we needed to change clothes and once it got dark outside, I would close the curtains, changing my lovely room with a view into an inside cabin with no natural light. There are also curtains to close off that area from the rest of the cabin to create a veranda-like space. Chill Island, Thrill Island, The Hideaway and The Aquadome all flow into each other across the ship's top decks.
Overview of Icon of the Seas
If you want to drink that bottle outside your cabin in a restaurant or lounge, you must pay a $15 corkage fee. Royal Caribbean has one of the fastest Wi-Fi systems at sea, called Voom, and you can take advantage of this on Icon of the Seas. Currently, Wi-Fi packages with streaming bandwidth start at $30.99 per day for one device (or $24.99 per day per device for packages accommodating two, three or four devices), though prices do change over time.
Icon of the Seas is ready: Here’s the timeline for Royal Caribbean’s new cruise ship debut
If you are a fan of seafood, you will appreciate Hooked Seafood, which serves up delicious New England-style seafood, such as Maryland crab cakes, Maine Lobster rolls, and other raw bar favorites. On Icon of the Seas, it will be located directly underneath the AquaDome. No cruise is complete without tons of dining options, and Icon of the Seas does not disappoint. In Central Park, guests find the new jazz club Lou's Jazz 'n Blues, with cocktails themed to the biggest jazz cities around the world. The walk-up Champagne venue, Bubbles, features mimosas, bellinis and other bubbly-based drinks. The Trellis Bar is also back, now with an extra-fee food menu to accompany your beverage of your choice. You might think you'd spend a week lost on the largest cruise ship on the planet. That's because the neighborhood concept (arranging themed attractions in one area of the ship) makes it easy to figure out where you're going.

It is not a surprise that the largest cruise ship in the world offers a variety of activities. Most of what you can find on the Cruise Compass, the ship’s daily list of activities, is typical of any cruise line. Likewise, Boleros remains on the Royal Promenade but is now found on Deck 6 across from the Schooner Bar. This venue features a variety of ales and lagers, some new cocktails, and the same great live music. Chill Island has 4 Lime and Coconut bars, including the brand-new frozen bar featuring poolside favorites like a Miami Vice.
Fun Things to Do on Vacation, the List is Endless
Cruisers must walk through a shop and then Playmakers to find the entrance. Boleros features Latin dance music and alternates between a duo or a band. Phoenix rocked out the Music Hall with classic rock tribute shows. This venue was also home to a DJ and some parties and other activities later in the evening on select nights. Along with distinct cocktails, many Icon of the Seas’ venues are home to live music and performances in the evenings.
Complimentary Dining
Drop-off play at Adventure Ocean is free during the day and early evening; it's an hourly rate per child after 10 p.m. A Caribbean cruise is all about fun in the sun, and Icon of the Seas' upper decks are the place to be. The most affordable rooms on Icon of the Seas are inside cabins (and they're still not cheap). In addition to standard 156-square-foot inside cabins and 178-square-foot Spacious Interior cabins, new 157-square-foot Interior Plus rooms feature extra-large walk-in closets. Some of these cabins look out over the ocean, while others face inwards, overlooking Central Park. Cabanas will be available to rent in this neighborhood, but there'll be plenty of free lounge space, too.
Search
You'll find these staterooms located at the forward of the ship on Decks 9, 10, and 11. Two-deck-high stateroom with panoramic ocean views of Icon and the ocean. This infinite balcony cabin allows you to expand your indoor living space or let fresh air inside at the touch of a button. When you press the button, the upper panel slides down below the lower panel creating a balcony, with the top open and the lower glass remaining. Your budget may simplify the decision and force you to confine your search to standard staterooms instead of suites. Similarly, you may know off the bat that you're a balcony person, effectively eliminating any interior or ocean view rooms.
Signage boards provide detailed information on all Central Park's trees and plants. The Pearl is a unique kinetic art sculpture providing multi-sensory experiences and housing special "sound and sight" events. It has height 14 m (45 ft), diameter 16 m (52 ft), and is constructed from ~3000 computer-driven kinetic tiles. At this unique facility can be emulated natural occurrences like rolling waves, gentle breezes, shooting stars, and the dynamic ocean surface.
While new, we were surprised that the jazz club was never all that busy, even though it had some great cocktails and live band music. So, cruisers wanting a more relaxing pool day don’t have to worry about this attraction. Actually, the design and layout reminded us more of the Quantum class. Of course, there is your typical sports court suspended above Deck 16.
It features eight neighborhoods, including three returning areas from its sister ships and five that are exclusive to its new class of ships. Icon of the Seas has plenty of live music venues — including rowdy karaoke and dueling pianos bars, if that counts. But if you're a jazz fan or looking for a peaceful nightcap, none of these options will top the live music at Lou's Jazz 'n Blues.
To avoid any surprises when you get on the ship, however, it is important that you understand what is and isn't included. The Ultimate Family Townhouse is Royal Caribbean's most expensive cruise ship suite. It's not uncommon to find rates around $80,000 to $100,000 for a family of four. The 1,772-square-foot suite is comprised of three stories and has a private "backyard" that leads directly to Surfside.
Organized scavenger hunts, riddle challenges, and puzzles also made the list of regular activities throughout the week. Of course, there’s also the seaside carousel and an arcade found in the Surfside neighborhood. This intense diving and aqua show attempts to replicate an action movie utilizing state-of-the-art pools, lifts, and robots. The Attic, newly relocated to the second floor of the Royal Promenade, has comedy shows on most nights of the cruise. Cruisers must arrive early to get a seat and sing along with Tim and Sarah during one of their several sets throughout the cruise. If you are a night owl, you will have a better shot at getting a seat during the 11 pm or midnight shows.
